Cameroon’s Denise Valérie Ayena was born and raised in Douala, a coastal city in southern Cameroon.

Denise was born and raised in Douala, a coastal city in southern Cameroon. Describing herself as a “cheerful and bubbly person”, Denise is currently enrolled at university studying Communications. Her life ambition is to become a successful broadcast journalist, preferably covering events.
Having an artistic nature, Denise enjoys painting and drawing, as well as traditional African dancing. In her spare time she enjoys watching motocross, her favourite book is the Da Vinci Code and she considers herself a “culinary tourist”, delighting in trying new flavours of food.
She Surpassed 20 other contestants, of which Elizabeth Nkono and Irene Bertha Fouda emerged 1st and 2nd runners up respectively, Valerie was crowned winner at the Yaounde Conference Center on 9th August 2013.
Speaking on the competition and her qualification for the Miss World 2013 competition, this is what Valerie had to say “I know my potential and I know that if Cameroonian people would like to see their country shining overseas they should choose me. For the rest I give it to papa God“.
The big win is just the beginning as she will now go on to contest in the global beauty competition that has had names like Agbani Darego and Wen Xia Yu as winners – Miss World 2013.
