How’s it been being on Skeem Saam?
“For me, it’s nothing big. It’s a job. Everyone has a job and I find it okay.
What do you think how people have reacted to your character?”
“It shocks me. People are so in love with my character. Even kids are very fond. The love is just so amazing. People don’t even know my real name, they call me Leshole.”
With that love from people, there comes fame. How do you handle the fame?
“I don’t really like fame. I love art and acting because I’m also a poet and a dancer.”
How long have you been dancing?
“I’ve been dancing since 2005. I just don’t go to dance classes anymore.”
What drew you to the role?
“I used to do a two-hander with a friend of mine. And this other day, Putla Sehlapelo (Meneer Magongwa) came to one of our event where we were performing. He took my number and called me for the role. That is how I got it. That’s how it all begun. I was so excited when I was picked to do it. I didn’t sleep, I just couldn’t believe it”
Are you really a lecturer?
“Not even. It all started as a joke on social media but people took it to heart. It’s just something I would’ve loved to but I’m not there yet”
Leshole Mabitsela is so loud, why is that?
“When it comes to viewers, it’s all about sympathy. People sympathise with Leshole because I’ve had so many people coming forward about how they had negative upbringings. So people can relate because it’s played out realistically.”
Do you have any celebrity crush?
“You won’t believe it. I don’t even know celebrities. I can’t differentiate between Boity Thulo and Minnie Dlamini. They look too much alike. I never go anywhere.”
Are you in any love relationship?
“The similarity between Leshole and Thabo is that we are both single. I have a five-year-old daughter, though. I see her whenever I’m visiting Mpumalanga because I’m based in Gauteng.”
