‘Game of Thrones’ Star Maisie Williams Thinks All The ‘Fake Friends’ Ruin Being Famous

Arya_GameOfThrones_Feat-970x545 Arya Stark is the best character on Game of Thrones. You can fight me if you want, but you’ll lose. My love for her is too powerful.game_of_thrones_79367 The actress who plays her, Maisie Williams, is also pretty boss. At 18, she seems far more self-possessed than many actresses twice her age. Maisie-Williams-game-of-thrones-19598935-1280-720Even as a little kid auditioning for the role, she was confident as hell:

Maisie certainly isn’t shy about her opinions, either. In a new interview with InStyle, she basically says what everyone suspects about Hollywood.

The parties look fun, but you’re surrounded by fake ass phonies. She says:

Hollywood is not evil, it’s just totally fake… And if you’re into making fake friends for a night and having a great time then that’s cool. Lots of people know it’s all bulls**t so they just go and have that night where they’re having fun with everyone and chilling. No one actually likes each other, but everyone is having a great time.

So if you want to play the part, you can… I don’t have any desire to pretend to be someone’s friend for the night. It just bores me. It bores me so much.

Williams is bored by the fortune and fame. She also says that she’s been dating someone she met in school for over a year, because she doesn’t meet the hot actor guys that young ingenues usually get paired with. That’s what happens when you avoid parties—you end up with someone normal.

Williams clearly isn’t worried about pissing anyone off by speaking her truth. She says with age comes the end of giving f*cks:

I always used to say and do the right thing,’ she agrees. ‘But as I got older and formed my own opinions, I said things wrong [sic] and got in trouble. After going through all of that, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m never going to please everyone and so I should just be happy. You know, selfishly, that’s really all that matters. I’m not going to go out of my way to upset people, but if someone asks an honest question I’ll give them my honest answer. So I’ve come back to that point where I don’t want to do the tits and teeth, but I also don’t want to be angry and mean about everything. I’ll just be somewhere in the middle where I can be myself.

Arya Stark is the part of a lifetime, but I really hope there’s a place for Maisie Williams if the series ever ends. She says she has been auditioning, but most parts for women are “a bit pants.”
